I'm interested in the Day Train Programme or 1 to 1 Lessons, what are the next steps?
Thank you so much for the interest! The next step would be to fill out the contact form, and I will reach out to take it from there.
We will have a phone call so you can give me an overview of yourself and your dog so I can find out a little more, and from there if you are still keen to pursue things further we would look to book in an initial assessment.
Assessments are around an hour long and are a great opportunity for us to meet, really dive into the details of everything and answer any questions you may have.
I will never put pressure on you to pursue things further than an initial assessment, as said on our training tips page it is so important that you like the trainer and get a good vibe from them, so I don't want to make you feel peered into pursuing things further if you don't think it's a good fit!
In the assessment, I will also be upfront about whether I think we are a good fit from my side as well. If the problem at hand is more of a specialist issue or I feel you may be better suited to someone else within my network or better suited to a service I don't offer, I will refer you in the direction of someone that can help!
I'm interested in the Dog Walking services, what are the next steps?
Thank you so much for the interest! The next step would be to fill out the contact form, and I will reach out to take it from there. We will have a phone call so you can give me an overview of yourself and your dog so I can find out a little more, and from there if you are still keen to pursue things further we would look to book in an intro walk.
The intro walk will be at a local park and I will ask for you to come for a walk with your dog and I will join!
Throughout the walk you can tell me a little more about your pup, as well as me seeing how walks generally operate when you take them out. Don't worry, I'm not there to judge!! But it's great for me to get an idea of what an average walk looks like and we can go from there.
Why does my dog have to do solo walks before they can join a pack?
As outlined in the dog walking information I don't just pick dogs up and run them ragged, I want to make sure that they are having a blast but learning how to be a good member of society too! I have seen far too many pack walks go wrong, where dogs have been out of control, got into fights, pestered the public and just generally been put in harms way where it could have been really easily avoided with a basic level of training.Ultimately my job is in training, not dog walking so the aim of this service is to provide a hybrid of the two.
Your dog must get to grips with the what to do and what not to do's before being integrated into the pack for a few reasons:
- I don't want them setting a bad example and undoing any of the other dogs training
- For the safety of yours, and everyone else's dog
- To make sure I have a chance to see how your dog operates and what sort of temperament they have to make sure they are paired with dogs they are likely to get on with
How long before my dog can join a pack walk?
This is a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string question'.Some dogs pick the ropes up incredibly quickly as they are great learners, and/or their owner has already laid wonderful foundations. For these kind of dogs, it could be a few solo walks to make sure I know what they are like, then they can join the pack. For others, it can take quite a bit longer to begin undoing bad habits and laying the groundwork for the new rules!
You will receive updates from each walk with messages and videos so you can see what stage they are at, and when I feel they are ready, I will of course let you know!
Are all dogs suitable for pack walks?
No, not every dog does well in a group. Some dogs find being around other dogs stressful, and they are far better off being walked on their own so they can actually enjoy themselves, rather than being put in with a group of dogs for an hour when they would far prefer being exercised alone.Whilst the human in us really wants our dog to have hundreds of doggy friends, the reality for some dogs is that they just enjoy their own company more - and that is absolutely okay!
If I feel that your dog will be better off enjoying walks just as a single dog I will let you know why!
