It's heating up ☀️

The sun has (finally!) come out in the UK, and what a sight for sore eyes. This is great news for us, and our furry friends, as longer sunny days usually mean more time outside with the longer days, longer walks and no more doggy jumpers!

It does also mean that we are coming into the season where, as owners, we need to make sure we are keeping an eye out for our dogs to make sure they are coping well as it gets warmer.

We have put together a list of a few things we like to do with our dogs food to help them stay happy and healthy as it warms up, have a look below.

1. We love to freeze cut up bits of strawberry and blueberries (other fruits are available) and on a particularly toasty day drop these into the water bowl. It's fun for the dogs to try and grab the bits of fruit, but it also means they are taking on more water as they splash and slurp to pick it all up.

2. Have you tried taking a small handful of cut up frozen pate and throwing the bits in a shady patch of grass? It will keep your dog occupied for a little while and give them a tasty cold snack. This trick is great for dogs that don't always understand to put themselves in the shade, and would end up baking in the heat.

3. If your dog eats raw, try stuffing their dinner in a Kong and popping it in the freezer overnight and voila, you've created a healthy dog ice-cream that will keep your pup occupied for ages. Or if your pup is kibble fed, you can mix with a bit of water to make it more 'stuffable' and put that in a Kong.

4. Cold bones are also a really good treat. Why not substitute your dog's normal breakfast with a bone. It will keep them cool, and will also tire them out for a while.

These are just a few tips of things that we have found to be helpful with our nutty lot, and hopefully they give you a few ideas of things you can try out.

Enjoy the sun! Love the Artemis K9 team 🐾
